Samuel L. Morison stole and attempted to sell his grandfather’s work in April to a re-seller of books and other documents, charging documents state. He had an initial appearance Tuesday in federal court.
Samuel L. Morison was convicted of espionage and theft of government property in 1985, then pardoned in 2001 by President Bill Clinton.
He had worked as an intelligence analyst for the Naval Intelligence Support Center in Prince George’s County and was convicted of providing classified information to a publication he contributed to in London, according to federal court documents.
He was the only government official ever convicted of giving classified information to the press, according to media reports at the time.
